The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) debunked rumours that it has resolved the pending case between the examination body and Mr Chinedu Okeke.
JAMB posted a public clarification statement announcing that it has not resolved issues pertaining to Chinedu Okeke, the highest scoring UTME Candidate for the Year. The Exam body knocked purveyors of false information for spreading rumours while stating that it is committed to transparency and due process.
“For public clarification, no issues have been resolved with Chinedu Okeke.
Our attention has been drawn to another malicious falsehood claiming that issues concerning Chinedu Okeke have been resolved. We are alarmed by the lengths to which some individuals will go to gain attention on social media.
Does character mean nothing to people anymore? This will be the last time that we will be reacting to this type of falsehood. We have had enough, and we won’t allow anybody to thrive on our shoulders. The statement read.
The statement reiterated that JAMB is a statutory body and not a political party, and would love to be left out of the mudslinging associated with politically leaning institutions.
“JAMB is a statutory body, not a political party. We won’t sit idly by while some individuals use our platform to play sectional politics as well as draw social media traffic.” the statement added.
JAMB stressed that checking multiple admissions in tertiary institutions in Nigeria is one of its core duties as an Exam Body. The exam body reiterated that multiple admissions is an offence, given the high rate of Nigerian students struggling to get into universities.
JAMB added that no satisfactory clarification has been provided on why Mr Okeke claimed Lagos in 2021 and Anambra in 2025. He has not clarified that he is no longer a medical student of the University of Nigeria, Nsuka (UNN).
