Indigenous gadget maker Imose Mobile has officially launched its product line at the Imo digital city following a partnership between the two entities.
The Imo digital city, which is almost complete, will feature Imose Mobile’s product catalogue, including made-in-Nigeria phones, tablets, laptops, and other fast-moving gadgets.
The launch follows an agreed partnership between Imose Mobile and Imo digital city weeks ago, as the new tech hub seeks to expand its utility in the heart of Owerri. Imose Mobile, following its launch, is rolling out a strategic outdoor campaign in the city, buying up billboards and utilising flyers at the time of the report.
The development places Imo state alongside Enugu state as an aspiring tech hub. Imo state wants to train and upskill 20,000 youths with global skills for the global market. Enugu state, on the other hand, wants to become a hub for tech manufacturing following its partnership with the Haier factory.
Imo’s Governor, Hope Uzodimma, visited the Complex days ago to assess the pace of work ahead of its planned commissioning. The technological complex is 93% done with interior and exterior finishes already in place.
The hub is the physical representation of Imo State’s drive to boost its digital economy. The state also hopes to leverage its young demographic, the largest by numbers.
Imose Mobile is headquartered in Lagos. The company was established to produce affordable and local tech. Products include tailored mobile devices, laptops, and tablets to help bridge the digital divide in Nigeria.
The technological hardware company is bootstrapped with no public record of external funding. Instead of equity funding, the company has leveraged strategic partnerships with government agencies.
In 2024, they partnered with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI). Together, they launched a line of locally manufactured laptops and tablets.
This collaboration is part of the “3Cs” principle (Collaboration, Creation, and Commercialisation) aimed at reducing Nigeria’s reliance on imported tech. Imose Mobile claims to have made over $5 million in revenue since launch.
