The flagbearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Jude Ezenwafor, survived an assassination attempt made on him around Wuse 2 in Abuja.
The Real estate developer cum Politician is still alive after being shot multiple times in the leg while returning from a private appointment on Friday Night, per a Sahara Reporters report.
Two other individuals on transit with the PDP man were also shot and are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. The attackers’ identities are yet to be revealed, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, earlier said she isn’t aware of the development, and the command is investigating the development.

Ezenwafor emerged unopposed as the flagbearer of the PDP in the upcoming Anambra Gubernatorial elections slated for November 8. His emergence followed several months of internal tussle within the Party.
Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP Publicity Secretary, signed a public statement on behalf of the Party stating that the attack was politically motivated and was likely carried out by political opponents wary of the growing popularity of their candidate.
“After a critical analysis of the violent incident, the PDP believes that certain interests who, ostensibly being uncomfortable with the growing popularity of the PDP candidate ahead of the November election are desperate to prevent him from participating in the coming poll,” He said.
The PDP collectively blamed the All Progressives Congress (APC) for overtly insensitive, corrupt, and abysmally rudderless” leadership.
“This attack on the PDP candidate is another sad commentary on the alarming level of insecurity in the country under the overtly insensitive, corrupt, and abysmally rudderless All Progressives Congress (APC) administration,” the statement read.
The Party maintained that regardless of the attack, Ezenwafor would contest in the November elections and win.
The Anambra State gubernatorial election features 16 parties, with APGA’s Charles Soludo favored for re-election. PDP’s Jude Ezenwafor, LP’s Valentine Ozigbo, and APC’s George Moghalu compete.
INEC registered over 95,000 new voters during its week-long continuous Voter Registration (CVR). The Zoning formula and infrastructural achievements tilt the momentum in favour of the Incumbent governor representing APGA in the race.
