Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, approved the sum of Fifteen billion, nine hundred and fifty-six million, Four Hundred and Seven Thousand, two hundred and forty six naira, twenty-five kobo (N15,956,407,246.25) for the dualisation of the 33-Nsugbe road following years of heavy traffic congestion along the axis.
The Anambra State Executive Coucil which includes the governor, decided on the project during their routine ANSEC meeting, explaining that the immediate goal is to reduce the traffic congestion along the route.
Anambra’s Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, summarised the proceedings of the ANSEC meeting, highlighting that the 33- Nsugbe project aligns with the Anambra Beltway and Solution’s government policy goals to dualise all “Trunk A “roads in the state.
The 33 Nsugbe Road is an important road in the state, linking location clusters with very high population density. Traffic congestion along the route is worsened by a makeshift market at the Nkwelle roundabout, slowing traffic and narrowing an already narrow road.
Other projects approved at the ANSEC Meeting include the installation of a new transformer at the Irueyim community, Nteje, Nteje Oyi LGA. The Anambra government awarded the contract to Kennolly Enterprises for the sum of fifty-six million, three hundred and eighty-six thousand, seven hundred and eighteen Naira, sixty-nine kobo (N56,386,718.69) only.
One hundred and fifty-nine million, five hundred and ninety-nine thousand, seven hundred and seventy-five naira, fourteen kobo. (N159, 599,775.14) was awarded to Vigeo-Dome Ltd for the installation and supply of solar street lights along the Oye Market Road, Isuofia.
