Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Thaddeus Ezeagu, who played a major role in coordinating Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign in Sokoto State, has announced his plan to contest for the governorship position in Imo State.
Ezeagu made his intention known during a gathering attended by political supporters, associates, and residents from different parts of the state. The declaration marked his official entry into the coming governorship contest in Imo.
Speaking at the event, Ezeagu said he decided to join the race because he believes the people of Imo deserve leadership that will focus more on their welfare and daily needs.
He stated that many residents have lost confidence in the government over the years and promised to rebuild trust through open leadership and people-friendly policies.
He explained that security would be one of the top areas his administration would focus on if elected governor.
According to him, peace and safety are necessary for businesses to grow and for residents to live without fear.
He added that economic progress cannot happen in an environment where insecurity continues to affect communities.
The governorship hopeful also promised to improve the education sector across the state. He said schools would receive more attention. Teachers would be given better support to help raise the standard of learning.
He noted that investing in education is important for the future of young people in Imo State.
Ezeagu further spoke about plans to reduce unemployment by creating opportunities for youths. He said his government would introduce skill acquisition programmes and employment initiatives. This is aimed at helping young people become self-reliant and productive.
He also promised to run an administration that would carry everyone along regardless of location or social class. According to him, development should not be limited to cities alone. He stated that rural communities also deserve access to government projects and services.
Ezeagu assured residents that accountability and transparency would remain part of his administration if allowed to lead the state. He said government resources must be properly managed to benefit the people.
