Mainpower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) is set to kick off its mobile map metering initiative to boost customer satisfaction and reduce estimated billings.
The Mobile Map metering program will be rolled out in the Abakpa and Ogui districts of Enugu today, July 30, 2025, kickstarting the process and fast-tracking the metering process for unmetered power consumers in the state. The entire process for a single consumer takes only 72 hours, ensuring consumers get metered as fast as possible.
Mr Emeka Ezeh, Head Corporate Communications, MEDL, announced the program’s start on Monday in a press release stating that the initiative was aimed at reducing the gap between the metered and unmetered electricity consumers in the state in line with the company’s vision.
The mobile map metering program also aims to improve transparency in billing while empowering customers with more control over their energy consumption. The program will be rolled out in phases at various district offices, facilitating metering for consumers all over the state.
Mainpower urged consumers to take advantage of the initiative across various districts, emphasising that metering allows them to control their energy consumption completely, removing any room for estimates.
Eligibility Requirements
Ezeh disclosed that Interested energy consumers must come for the map metering program with a copy of their electricity bill and a valid means of identification.

He also revealed approved prices for meters in the state, ranging from N137,062.50 for a single-phase meter to N227,900 for a three-phase meter, 7.5% VAT included.
Ezeh added that payment for the meters would be facilitated by a debit card payment method, announcing that cash is not allowed and that there are no hidden or extra charges in the program.
According to him, the regular MAP metering process is still in place, and the mobile version was created to hasten the metering process and reach a larger number of consumers in the state.
