Nathan Nwachukwu, Industrialist and CEO of Terrahaptix Industries, has supported the South East Maths Olympiad competition with the sum of N10 million as he looks to motivate the next generation of talents in the region.
The Convener of the Maths Quiz program, Alex Onyia, announced the donation on X, revealing that Nathan Nwachukwu, an ex-Physics Olympiad, is also interested in supporting the South East Football Competition 2026 as a side project.
” This morning, we got a credit of 10 million naira from Nathaniel Nwachuku in support of the South East Maths Olympiad. He is the CEO of Terra Industries – Africa’s largest defense manufacturer,” says Onyia
” Nath is a gifted child and a former Physics Olympiad participant. He said, This is the first of many.” He added.
Speaking further, Onyia revealed that his team has received a total of N15 million for the South East Maths Olympiad competition, enabling them to set up a gift amount for the prospective second and third place candidates.
Onyia earlier described the spread of the cash reward for the best three candidates in the competition. According to him, the best performing students in the competition would receive cash prizes ranging from N5 million for the Senior category, N3 million for the Junior Category, and N2 million for the Primary category.
The South East Maths Olympiad looks to cultivate a culture of excellence in the eastern region, motivating bright young talents and creating a framework for the promotion of STEM courses amongst its students.
The initiative is the brainchild of Alex Onyia, a foremost education influencer in Nigeria with a strong focus on the South East. He also floats an education trust fund, ” ISEE,” to tackle the menace of out-of-school children in the eastern region.
