The Imo Digital City project, an initiative of the Hope Uzodimma administration, is nearing completion as the government team behind the project engages prospective global technology partners.
A progress report on the technology project was given by the state’s Commissioner for Digital Economy and E-government, Dr Chimezie Amadi, during an X space yesterday organised by the Imo state new media team.
Speaking during the X space, Amadi stated that the Imo Digital City project is 90% complete, and global technology partners are already working with the state to shape what will become a hub for digital learning, innovation, and startup growth.
The X space attracted nearly 100 listeners, with key stakeholders in the state’s technology industry forming the panel of speakers.
The new tech hub features advanced ICT labs and creative studios, and is set to empower young people with global-standard skills and attract investment. The Imo Digital City is the physical side of the new tech revolution powered by the Uzodimma administration.
Other Tech initiatives include the Imo skill up program, a training cohort that seeks to upskill imo youths and prepare them for the global market. The skill-up program has already trained over 20,000 imo residents in partnership with international educational institutions.
The Imo state government signed an agreement with UC Berkeley, announcing the educational institution as one of the strategic partners for the Imo skill up program. The technology revolution in the state is powered by the large number of young people in the state, courtesy of the eight tertiary institutions in the state alone.
The Imo state governor hopes to spearhead a technology revolution with his physical and soft reforms. The Imo Digital City is designed with modern aesthetics, representing the futuristic idea of a blossoming digital economy, and aligns with the taste of the new generation of talents at the heart of the tech revolution.
