Defence Manufacturers and Innovators, Terra Industries has pledged to establish World-Class Research Laboratories at Federal Universities in the southeast as part of its deliverables following its partnership with the Southeast Development Commission (SEDC).
Terra Industries Co-Founder, Nathan Nwachuwku, revealed this during the official announcement of the partnership between Terra Industries and the SEDC. Prospective Universities for this initiative include the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), and others.
According to Nwachukwu, the goal of this initiative is to build the Academia Industrial Complex needed to produce indigenous technologies across the board.
Terra is partnering with the SEDC to Co-invest in early-stage startups in the eastern region, solving problems across sectors. Nwachukwu also stated that his organisation is seeking bright minds in the Southeast to join its efforts to solve problems across Nigeria and Africa.
He admitted that Terra Industries alone can not take on these challenges, which cut across Security, Agriculture, Energy, and other areas.
” It has become clear to us that we will need an entire ecosystem of builders, innovators, and leaders who are solving this problem at an industrial scale,” Nwachukwu said.
Terra Industries joined the list of major brands partnering with the SEDC as the commission looks to make an impact on the region and Nigeria as well.
Besides being a Defence innovator and founder, Nathan Nwachukwu is also a philanthropist who makes significant donations to academia in the eastern region. He was one of the largest donors to the Southeast Maths Olympiad Competition last year, contributing millions to the STEM-focused initiative.
