The night plan feature offered by Nigerian Telcos is an austerity measure aimed at low-income earners who want to get enough data for as little money as possible. The night plan feature is anchored on two facts. The internet is faster at night because of low traffic, and telcos can sell data around the clock.

The arrangement is a win for both telco and customer, hence its continued existence for nearly a decade. The night plan/ Night call feature was born in the early 2000s to utilise the extra hours of the day.

The night call was a hit and was very popular amongst young Nigerians. The advent of social media and messaging apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Telegram has killed the Night Call section of the Night Plan Package.

Till this day, the Night plan is a hit among heavy internet users who carry out heavy downloads or streaming. Tech bros and sis also use it to run complex tasks when the internet is very fast due to low traffic.

However, the Data Night plan is still standing strong, as data is essential to power a lot of things, including messaging apps. Like every package to customers, other telcos in Nigeria have their own version. MTN, Airtel, Glo, and T2 all have night plan subscriptions.

This article, however, is on how to do the Airtel Night Plan in 2026 and benefit from a discounted price for both calls and data. We will also look at the various packages available.
