This article explores how to hide your Airtel number in 2026 in case you want to make an anonymous call and conceal your identity.

There are many reasons a mobile user might want to conceal their identity when making a call. In most cases, it stems from a security concern or a burning need for privacy.

In 2026, we are in the era of data harvesting and Artificial Intelligence. Personal data, such as phone numbers, is very valuable to advertisers and big tech companies, who use it for their marketing activities and other technical practices involving User data.

For example, a Men Luxury brand selling clothing and jewellery could target you continuously with adverts and promotional messages if they get hold of your phone number and personal data. This is a serious concern today, as digital marketing has become a more personalised endeavour.

In recent years, Facebook, the giant social media platform, has been accused of selling customer data to advertisers. This customer data often includes phone numbers, which advertisers use to access other information such as IP addresses, device types, and other personal information relevant to their campaigns.

The problem is only faced by buyers. Sellers are also at risk of privacy breaches if they expose their phone numbers to the general public. In Nigeria, Online merchants selling on Jiji and Jumia often conceal their caller ID to avoid harassment from past customers.

The need to hide your number is also prevalent in the professional field, where workers are strongly opposed to receiving work calls at odd hours. In the dating scene, Phone numbers are often concealed in the initial stage to prevent stalking or any form of cyberbullying.

Telemarketers often look for active numbers to call, so they dial random numbers and mark them down as active. Then, proceed to market products to these numbers over time.

These many scenarios play out and require mobile users to conceal their numbers. In Nigeria, various telecommunications providers have their own means of concealing numbers. In this article, we will look at how Airtel users can hide their numbers when making a call.

How to Hide a Number on Airtel in 2026

Airtel offers its subscribers two ways to conceal their numbers. They can conceal the number for a specific call or for all outgoing calls.

Hiding your number on Airtel Nigeria can be done in two ways: for a single call or permanently for all outgoing calls.

    The One-Time Method

If you only want to hide your number for one specific call, use the prefix code. This is the most common method used in Nigeria.

    • The Code: Dial #31#followed by the person’s number.
    • Example: If you are calling 08021234567, you should dial #31#08021234567.
    • Result: The recipient will see “Private Number” or “Unknown” on their screen.
    The Permanent Method

If you want every call you make to be hidden until you decide otherwise, you can use a USSD code or your phone’s internal settings.

    Using USSD Code:
    • To Enable: Dial *31#. You should receive a notification saying “Outgoing Caller ID service was enabled.”
    • To Disable (Show your number again): Dial #31#
