The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, has released a list of Anambra’s security emergency numbers amid talks of improved security following the potential end of the Monday sit-at-home.
Mefor shared a list of phone numbers on his X page for various commands and heads of security outfits in Anambra state. He called for public participation in the state’s security issues, urging Anambra residents to report security concerns to those numbers.
” Safety is a collective responsibility. The Anambra State Government urges residents to report security concerns immediately to ensure a swift response,” says Mefor.
The development follows growing security concerns, as the Anambra state government has moved to end the Monday sit-at-home exercise carried out by traders in the state.

Anambra Security Scorecard Under Soludo
Security under Prof Chukwuma Soludo slightly improved through three strategic pillars: state-backed vigilante groups, the Slum Urbanisation Project, and the digitalisation of security surveillance.
The Agunechemba Initiative is a state-backed vigilante outfit that has bridged the gap in grassroots intelligence. By February 2026, Soludo successfully utilised these forces to break the psychological hold of “sit-at-home” enforcers in Onitsha, leading to the successful reopening of the Main Market today
The urban renewal of notorious hideouts like Okpoko has significantly reduced urban crime rates by flushing out criminal syndicates that previously used these areas as safe havens.
Finally, Soludo’s 2026 budget (₦766 billion) allocates substantial funding for digital surveillance, including the installation of CCTV in commercial hubs and the use of the 5111 emergency response system.
Results of these initiatives include a significant reduction in crime rate and kidnapping in the state, as reported by Anambra diaspora indigenes who returned home for Christmas in December.
Despite claims of normalcy, Amnesty International and local reports indicate that parts of the state still experience sporadic attacks by gunmen. However, this remains unconfirmed as the state has not witnessed any such attacks for a while.
