The Eze Ndigbo in Ghana, Eze Dr Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, held a Press conference addressing accusations that he plans on setting up an Igbo Kingdom in the West African Country.
In a press conference held at his residence on Friday, the king stated that his plans to buy 50 Acres of land and set up a kingdom for his villagers did not happen. He urged Ghanaians to disregard the video making the rounds.
Ihenetu explained further that he discussed the plans with the paramount leader of Ningo, Nene Tekper, who offered to sell 200 acres. The plan fell through due to litigations surrounding the land, forcing the Eze Ndigbo to abandon the project.
A viral video, which happened to be an old 2013 video, featured the Igbo king stating that he would acquire 50 acres of land in Ghana to establish an Igbo kingdom there. The viral video sparked public outrage and anger directed towards the Igbo people in Ghana, partly supported by some Nigerians.
The king appealed to Igbos in Ghana to refrain from crimes and breaking the law in their country of residence. He begged Ghanaians not to paint the entire Igbo tribe with a bad brush, as bad behaviour within groups is universal.

Eze Iheneutu met with the Ghanaian foreign affairs minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, earlier this week. The Igbo king explained the situation surrounding the viral videos and the controversies they raised in the Ghanaian community.
Igbos in Ghana primarily engage in trade and commerce, with a population of over 71,000. Eze Dr. Chukwudi Ihenetu leads the Igbo diaspora in Ghana, and they celebrate cultural events like the New Yam Festival and other cultural events.
Despite historical tensions and recent controversies over a proposed Igbo village, they contribute significantly to Ghana’s economy while maintaining their heritage.
