A survey of the Federal Government’s 2026 Budget by Tracka has revealed a major anomaly in the budget with Federal Cooperative College, Oji River, Enugu State reciving N1.08 trillion from the FG for projects in farway Zamfara, Sokoto to Bayelsa, Lagos to Borno, and even the FCT.
The cooperative college established as an in-service training institution for cooperative stakeholders is billed to fund all manner of projects from road and drainage constructions to Digital learning centres and medical outreaches.
The piece of information has raised a lot of dust and suspicion on why an educational institution should recieve a budget bigger than the combined budget allocation of six ministries.
Besides the odd number attached to the college’s budget. The question of whether it is proper for an educational institution to be funding capital projects and other initiatives has spurred an online debate.
Another key observation by tracka is the absence of locations in some of the line items under the Federal Cooperative College’s budget in the budget. The absence of a location makes tracking very difficult and adds steam to the speculation that the budget for the college might be a front for misappropriation of funds.
The development adds to the list of flagged line items on the budget including the allocation of N8.05 billion in the 2026 budget for the construction and renovation of churches and mosques. Nigeria’s 2026 budget stands at N68.3 trillion a 24.2% increase from last year’s N54.99 trillion.
Efforts to reach the Federal Cooperative College, Oji River for a comment proved abortive.
