The Ebonyi state government has provided the counterpart fund of N150 million to the ongoing World Bank-assisted Automated Integrated Ranch Project in the state.
Mr Victor Nwite, the Project Coordinator, Livestock Productivity and Resilience Project (L-PRES), a World Bank Assisted project revealed this to newsmen on saturday in Abakiliki. The coordinator stated that the project would take place at Ezamgbo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
He also revealed that the ebonyi government in addition to the counterpart funding have provided an enabling environment which is key to the success of the project.According to him the project as a whole is aimed at transforming the livestock sector by value addition and quality service.
The facility is expected to have structures of hospital for animals, veterinary laboratory and cold chain facility, cottage pasture, alongside a smart skills training centre.The plan involves establishing infrastructures to take care of pigs, cattle, sheep, goats and processing.
“Everything will be automated and this vision is in collaboration with the World Bank.
“This project gears towards educating farmers on how best to rear their animals in a proper way, using climate smart activity and interventions.
“We are ready to really turn around the livestock industry in the state, led by L-PRES, with support from the governor,” Mr Nwite Said.

The project coordinator of the World Bank assisted project revealed that the Ebonyi government additionally supported the project with 15 motor bikes for extension agents to attend to farmers in the state.
The government aims to elevate the livestock and cattle farming business in the state with the world bank Integrated Ranch project which provides key facilities necessary for success in the line of business.
