Nathan Nwachukwu, Co-Founder of Terra Industries, has supported the Southeast Maths Olympiad with an additional N5 million, taking his total donation to N15 million.

Convener of the Maths Olympiad, Alex Onyia, confirmed his new donation on X. He stated that Nwachukwu remains the biggest donor for the Olympiad competition and the Intervention for Southeast Education Initiative. (ISEE).

The Southeast Maths Olympiad is a grassroots education initiative looking to test students from eastern Nigeria in Olympiad-standard mathematics. Onyia, the convener of the competition, explained that the key objective is to reignite passion for mathematics. The project can also project the next generation of STEM talent from the region.

Yesterday, a mock exam of the competition was held to get students up to speed with the main event. The main event will be televised on Afia Tv, a leading regional broadcaster in eastern Nigeria.

Terra Industries Expands Possibilities with Additional Funding

Terra Industries made the news a week ago for raising an additional $22 million, bringing its total seed to $34 million. The Seed extension round was led by Lux Capital, with participation from 8VC, Silent Ventures, Nova Global, Belief Capital, Tofino Capital, Resilience 17 and some angel investors.

Nwachukwu, a fast-rising defence contractor, dropped out of Carleton University abadoning his Software Engineering Program to pursue his dreams. His decision to invest in great education initiatives in the eastern region comes across as noble. It represents the very best of Community Service Responsibility (CSR).

Nwachukwu has consistently called on African builders to focus on the continent’s more pressing needs. He cited defence, agriculture, and Data systems as more immediate needs of the continent. This week, His firm, Terra Industries, signed a landmark deal with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON). Both entities pledged to boost sovereign defence production in Nigeria.

Terra Industries is located in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja. This is an interesting location choice given that the city is heavily dominated by the public sector.
