Indigenous Technology Manufacturer Imose Mobile is set to open shop at the newly built Imo Digital City in Owerri, expanding its operational base to South East Nigeria.
The Nigerian tech brand is known for specialising in designing and assembling affordable, durable consumer electronics specifically tailored for the African market. Imose Mobile already operates an assembly plant in Lagos and Edo state. It is currently set to open a base in Owerri at the Imo Digital City.
Imose Mobile’s competitive advantage in Nigeria’s consumer tech market, saturated with imported brands, lies in locally tailored products for the African market. Some of its flagship products include kids’ educational Tablets calibrated for local languages, Nigerian-branded mobile phones, and other consumer tech products.
Imose Mobile is a pioneer in indigenous tech manufacturing. This follows Enugu’s move to establish a tech manufacturing sector in its state as well. Enugu is doing this through its partnership with the Chinese Haier group.
Imose Mobile Taps into Imo State’s Digital First Strategy
Imose Mobile’s goals align with those of the current administration in Imo State. Uzodimma aims to establish a digital-first economy within the next five years. The imo digital city is the physical arm of that digitalised economy envisioned by Senator Hope Uzodimma.
The near-completed complex will house Imo state’s digital initiative structure. It will also serve as a hub of ideas and innovation in the state. The Imo digital city complements other digital-first initiatives, such as the administration’s Skill Up Imo and Founder’s Dojo Bootcamp initiatives.
These initiatives aim to train over 50,000 Imo State youths in digital skills. The goal is to prepare them for the global market quickly.
The NIGCOMSAT MD/CEO, Jane Egerton Idehen, visited the Imo Digital City in Owerri. She came to assess the level of work and pay a courtesy visit to the team behind the project.
Imo State is positioned to be an urban centre of the Eastern Region. This follows its centralised location and progressive initiatives geared towards that end.
