The Abia state government is set to hold its annual business roundtable on March 5th 2026.
The business summit serves as a conduit for the government to meet with the state’s business community and develop strategic ideas for smooth collaboration and remarkable results.
The Abia state governor, Dr Alex Otti, is the chief host of this year’s edition, alongside Mr Chinedum Chijioke, DG/CEO of the PPP&1P office and Executive Vice Chairman of the Governing Council.
The event with the sub-theme ” Where Vision Meets Business” will take place at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, at 10 am. Key deliverables and highlights include
- Key Policy thrusts and growth trajectory of the state.
- Real conversations of growth, policies and possibilities with business leaders.
- Dialogue with His Excellency Dr Alex Otti (OFR) and his team
- Empowering Enterprise for a Prosperous Abia
The Abia Business Roundtable represents ongoing dialogues and forums held by the Otti administration to better understand various ecosystems in his state and better optimise them for results.

Abia State is known for its manufacturing and commerce, driven by its major commercial city, Aba. The business roundtable cultivates a culture of business dialogue in which the government can hear directly from business leaders on how best to meet their needs.
Aba’s Thriving Market Unions
Aba is a business powerhouse in Abia state, and its commercial ecosystem is managed by a series of business organisations. These organisations range from traders’ associations to government-backed bodies. They include
- ACCIMA (Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture)
- ASMATA (Abia State Market Amalgamated Traders Association)
- ASMALPLON (Abia State Mainland Leather Producers Organisation)
- AGET (Association of Garment & Exotic Textiles)
These organisations, as their names imply, are often focused on a specific line of trade. They manage the affairs of a distinct category of traders. The ASMALPLON and AGET oversee the affairs of leather producers, garment producers, and exotic textile producers, respectively.
The ASMATA and ACCIMA are broader associations with no distinct trader category recognised.
At Press time, it is still unclear whether these associations will be represented in person at the Abia Business Roundtable in March.
