The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is currently in Owerri on a working visit to commission major projects in the state.
President Tinubu touched down in Owerri, Imo state, to commission projects and visit the state under the care of fellow All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Capital projects lined up for commissioning include the reconstructed Owerri–Mbaise–Obowo–Umuahia Road, measuring 52km (dual carriageway), the Assumpta Flyover at Control Post, and the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre (EIICC).
The reconstructed Owerri-Mbaise-Obowo-Umuahia road is designed to connect Imo and neighboring States, opening up and powering rural economies, boosting trade, and facilitating the easier movement of goods and people.
The Assumpta Flyover at the Control Post was renovated to improve the free flow of traffic and decongest the very busy transport hotspot in the state, while the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu Conference Centre is a world-class facility built to place Imo on the map as a hub for conferences, exhibitions, and tourism-driven growth.
“These projects are a reflection of our commitment to the Shared Prosperity Agenda, which continues to deliver meaningful and inclusive development for ndi Imo nile,” Uzodimma said, announcing the projects.

President Tinubu would be visiting Abia State after his stay in Owerri to also commission projects in the state. The president is currently on a Southeast tour, having visited Anambra state earlier in the year.
