Craneburg construction is on the verge of completing the Onuimo-Abia Tower road, another landmark road project in Abia state, eastern Nigeria.
The road that runs from the Imo-Abia boundary into the Abia capital, Umuahia, is receiving its finishing touches, with the majority of the heavy lifting completed by Craneburg Construction.
The road is being fixed with streetlights, road markings, and other finishing touches as the contractors prepare it for commissioning by the Abia State Government.
Last Month, Craneburg began the second asphalt-laying (course-wearing) phase on the road, preparing it for handover. Yesterday, the road was receiving finishing touches, marking the end of yet another craneburg project in eastern Nigeria.
The Abia State government was responsible for reconstructing and dualising the Onuimo-Abia Tower road.
Despite the road being officially classified as a Federal Road. The Abia State government, under Governor Alex Otti, received the necessary approvals from the Federal Government. They assumed full responsibility for its reconstruction and expansion.
Governor Otti has stated that his administration’s policy is to prioritise the repair of critical entry points and economic roads. This is regardless of whether they are designated as Federal, State, or Local Government roads.
Craneburg Construction, as a project partner, makes another statement of affinity between the construction company and the eastern region. The company is also handling projects in Imo and Anambra, with Imo State being one of its largest patrons.
Some landmark projects by Craneburg in the east include the Anambra International Passenger and Cargo Airport, the Owerri-Orlu road dualisation project and the remodelling of the Control/Assumpta Roundabout in the heart of Owerri.
The Alex Otti Administration has been marked by its focus on road infrastructure, a major pain point for Ndi Abia. His efforts earned him a solid and organic support base, making him the favourite in 2027 despite tough opposition.
