Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has said that Insecurity in Enugu is a thing of the past following the steps his administration has taken to improve security.
In a post shared on his X page, the governor said no resident of Enugu should be forced to choose between staying safe and earning a living. He said the period of fear and insecurity in the state had come to an end.
Mbah said his government stopped the illegal sit-at-home order and introduced 150 AI-enabled patrol vehicles to support security operations across the state. He also said the government established a modern Command and Control Center to monitor security activities and respond quickly to threats.
According to him, the efforts have already produced results, with violent crimes in Enugu State dropping by 80 percent. He added that businesses and markets in the state now operate confidently throughout the week without fear.
The governor also stated that the state’s borders are being watched day and night. This is done through AI-assisted surveillance and coordinated security operations. He said the level of safety being experienced in the state is no longer a promise. It is a reality for residents.
Mbah further explained that his administration would continue to improve security through the Enugu State Security Trust Fund. Other initiatives include stronger Neighborhood Watch groups, Enugu Forest Guards, and partnerships with community policing teams.
He said the goal of his government is to build a new Enugu. Where residents can move around freely, work peacefully, and sleep without fear. The governor added that Enugu remains safe and open under his administration.

The barrister-turned-entrepreneur, now a politician, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) last year. This ends a two-decade run by the People’s Democratic Party in the state.
