Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, discussed the Anambra Zoning formula, stressing that Anambra South, which he is from, is left with only four years to rule before another zone takes over.
Soludo made the call during an endorsement rally organized by the Anambra Central Zone over the weekend, explaining that some of his November 8 governorship election rivals are running for running’s sake.
He explained that, going by the Zoning formula, which is largely agreed on by Ndi Anambra, some candidates in the election can not rule Anambra because the formula does not create the room for that.
“There has to be order in the governance of Anambra State, and the zoning system is already in place.
” After Anambra South where I come from, the governorship will go to Anambra Central. Therefore, for anyone coming from Anambra South to say he is contesting the November 8 election, that person is only trying to keep the governorship in that zone for 12 years, which is not acceptable to our people.” Soludo said.
The professor turned Governor explained further on how four more years of his administration is better than eight years of another candidate.
He stated that the zoning formula started with Governor Peter Obi of Anambra Central, who ruled for eight years.

Obi’s tenure was followed by that of Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra North, who also ruled for eight years before Soludo of Anambra South came to power.
Soludo has done four years out of the mandated eight, leaving Anambra South with four years left. The Anambra governor believes he is best suited to complete the four years allocated to Anambra South more than anybody.
Additionally, Soludo added that his administration plans to build three new cities in Anambra with a railway system serving parts of the state.
The Governor tasked the people of Anambra Central to come out en masse and vote for him, stating that the party is targeting about 90% of the votes from all electoral wards in Anambra Central.
Osita Chidoka, Former Minister of Aviation and Comptroller Federal Road Safety Corps, assured the Governor that the people of Anambra Central are united in support of his continued governance of the state.
The Anambra Central rally and endorsement is the second major endorsement for the Soludo administration, following the first at Otuocha, Anambra East Local Government Area.
