Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has backed Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance party for the Anambra South Senatorial By-elections slated to hold on Saturday.
Soludo, alongside his deputy governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, campaigned for Nwachukwu across the city of Nnewi and a campaign rally at Aguata local government headquarters.
He pleaded with all eligible voters to come out on Saturday and express their right to vote while fronting the APGA candidate for the elections.
Soludo explained that the Apga candidate is rooted in community values and development, much-needed qualities in the state. He recalled that Nnewi South and Ihiala have not produced a senator in the region before. He stated that Ukpor and Nnewi South supported the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, and it was time to return the favour.
Soludo called on the people of Nnewi to come out en masse and vote for APGA’s Emmanuel Nwachukwu.
He added that the party stands for an open, credible, and transparent election, aligning with the party’s status as a people’s movement.
Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, APGA’s State Chairman, added to the conversation, calling for the unity of Nnewi and Aguata people to ensure a smooth and efficient electoral process. He stated that a unified front will consolidate APGA’s support base in the region and ensure eventual victory.
Speaking on behalf of Ndi Aguata, Dr Chibueze Oforbuike, Chairman of Aguata Local Government, assured APGA of 100% support from the people.
Nwachukwu expressed gratitude for the support of his candidacy by the APGA political machinery, expressing hope towards a victorious run in the August 16 Anambra Senatorial Bye-elections in the state.
