The Representative representing West Virginia’s Second District in Congress, Rep Riley Moore, has rebuked China’s reaction to the statement by the US president, Donald Trump, speaking of a possible invasion to save persecuted Nigerian Christians.
Moore’s reaction followed a press conference by the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning, where she stated that China opposes any foreign interference by any country in another country’s internal affairs.
” As a comprehensive strategic partner of Nigeria, China firmly supports the Nigerian government in leading its people to a development path that fits Nigeria’s national realities. We oppose any country’s interference in other countries’ internal affairs under the pretext of religion and human rights. We oppose the wanton threat of sanctions and the use of force.” Ning stated
Rep Riley Moore, a vocal supporter of a Nigerian invasion, rebuked the Chinese position on the brewing dispute in Nigeria, doubting China’s expertise on the matter and moral authority to dictate to the US.
” China will not dictate our foreign policy to us, and we will not be lectured to by a Communist autocracy that recently arrested 30 Christian pastors for their faith and throws ethnic minorities in concentration camps.” Moore reacted.
The representative backed Trump’s decision to intervene in the Christian persecution in Nigeria, stating that Christians in the West African country are suffering persecution and Martyrdom.
The Nigerian polity is heated with narratives following Donald Trump’s warning on a possible military action against Nigeria should the country’s leadership fail to root out Islamic terrorists killing and displacing Christians.
The Nigerian government, in response to the development, has established a committee to facilitate the appointment of ambassadors before the end of Next week. The Ambassadors would be tasked with establishing a high-level communication channel with Washington, D.C., regarding the pending issue.
