The National Renewed Hope Media Tour, taking place across major states in the country, continued in Imo State, where the presidential team inspected landmark projects.
The tour, involving members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and the presidential communications team, is currently conducting the Southeast edition of its nationwide tour, having visited Ebonyi State and now Imo State.
Projects visited by the team include the completed 56-kilometre Okigwe–Owerri Road, the 36-kilometre Owerri–Obowo–Umuahia Road, and the ongoing upgrade and construction of the standard runway at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport.
Additional projects inspected were the newly upgraded Alvan Ikoku College of Education and the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, which was upgraded to a Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Owerri.
Mr Declan Emelumba, the Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, reacted to the visit. He stated that the projects are a direct result of a strong partnership between the Imo government and the FG.
He added that the majority of the projects were financed by the state Government. This is courtesy of an expanded fiscal structure made available to states by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He explained that the expansion of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport is a strategic move. It is designed to transform the facility into a regional hub for imports and exports. Supporting this vision for the facility, eight modern warehouses for storage and cargo handling. They are expected to boost agricultural exports, commerce, and investment in the South-East.
APC Gears up for 2027 with National Tour
The Renewed Hope National Media Tour is an initiative credited to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma. It comes in handy as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for an electoral showdown in 2027.
The tour is part of the party’s campaign activities. It seeks to position the APC as a functional party with real impact, not just a political force.
The presidential communications team consists of over 40 senior journalists. They are tasked with documenting projects and ensuring accountability of the various government bodies in each state of focus.
