Afro-fusion artist and Maggi Grand Ambassador, Chimamanda Pearl Chukwuma, aka Qing Madi, has dropped her star-studded Album amid an alleged $1 million lawsuit from her label.
The American love singer, who recently had a meltdown on X over a record label issue, is facing an alleged, unconfirmed $1 million lawsuit. However, she dropped the Barely Legal album, which is lined up with lots of A-list artists in the industry.
The seven-track album featured the likes of Flavour, Tiwa Savage, Bnxn, Zlatan, Zinoleesky, Wande Coal, Rotimi, and others. All tracks were mixed and mastered by Synx, with the album cover showing a list of songwriters alongside the featured artists.
Speculations about the lawsuit followed Qing Madi’s meltdown on X this year. So far, there have been no official court filings or press releases from either party on the issue.
The young Nigerian singer-songwriter remains officially signed to Jton Music in partnership with Columbia Records, following her breakout success with hits such as “See Finish” and “Ole”.
Contract disputes are common topics of speculation in the Afrobeats industry. However, there are no court filings, official press statements, or verified reports so far. There is no official indication that an active lawsuit between Qing Madi and her label has been made public.
Last Month, Nestlé Nigeria officially unveiled Qing Madi as the new brand ambassador for its flagship seasoning brand, Maggi.
The partnership targets Gen Z consumers by redefining food as a medium for creative self-expression and cultural identity. This moves away from traditional kitchen roles. The multi-platform endorsement deal kicked off with the vibrant media campaign, “Me & MAGGI, So Good Together.”
This follows their initial collaboration in 2025. Last year, the singer-songwriter teamed up with the Loud Urban Choir to record Maggi’s hit festive anthem, “Taste of Christmas.”
Madi grew up in the commercial city of Benin and started her career in the church Choir. Her second hit single, American Love, reached 47.1 million streams on Spotify and 4.6 million plays on Audiomack.
