In an event-packed Weekend, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, commissioned a high-end restaurant in Asaba owned by twin sisters who were former employees of Air Peace.

Obi narrated on X how he met the two sisters at the Asaba airport when they were still Air Peace staff, and they told him of their plans to start a restaurant soon. The twins, after a long time, informed him that they had started the business and hoped to officially commission it after a year in operation.

The ex-Anambra governor told the sisters that doing business in Nigeria was never easy, but with the right strategy and perseverance, one could succeed. He promised to come to commission the restaurant when they are ready to open the place officially.

Obi, during the commissioning yesterday, expressed surprise that the one-year-old restaurant now employs 12 people. He likened the venture as an example to what production and enterprise can do for a nation in terms of job creation and growth of the economy.

He stated that one million of such small enterprises would mean over 10 million jobs created from just small and medium-sized businesses in a country.

” Small businesses remain the greatest employers of labour in every economy – from the largest, such as the USA and China, to the fastest-developing ones like India, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Nigeria, too, can multiply such success stories if only we create the right environment and support micro and small businesses,” Obi Said

Obi spent his weekend attending events primarily in the South East and South South regions. He started the weekend by visiting Enugu for the burial of football icon Christian Chukwu before dropping off at Abia state for the 75th Birthday of Sam Ohuabunwa.

He ended the weekend by commissioning the one-year-old restaurant in Asaba, citing that such small businesses are significant players in any nation’s economy.
