The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, attended the Third Annual National Summit of CPO, an Obidient Support group, as well as the public presentation of The Flame of Hope: Igniting the Soul of a Nation, written by Emeka Patrick Ude.
Obi described the gathering as a celebration of ideas and a significant step in the collective journey towards building a Nigeria that works for all. The former Anambra governor also called for comprehensive electoral reforms, which, according to him, remain the bedrock of a functional democracy.
” This accordingly will drive inclusive growth, create jobs, unlock the immense potential of our young population, and improve the critical areas of development, health, education, and pull our people out of poverty,” Obi said, highlighting the benefits of a comprehensive electoral reform
Speaking further, Obi encouraged Nigerians, especially the Youths, to deepen their participation in the electoral process and hold on firmly to their belief in a new Nigeria.
” The journey to a better nation is never easy, but with faith, resilience, focus, and unity of purpose, we can birth a country that reflects the values of justice, equity, greatness, and shared prosperity,” Obi added.
The Labour Party stalwart ended his speech at the event by commending the CPO support group for its consistency, resilience, and commitment to the cause. He also appreciated Emeka Patrick Ude for his literary contribution to the project.
Notable attendees at the event include George Mogahlu, Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in Anambra state, and Aisha Yesufu, Political Activist and Bring Back Our Girls Convener.
Moghalu, earlier in the week, suspended his political campaign in honour of the victims of the Onitsha Main Market chaos this week in Anambra state.
The Labour Party candidate visited the scene of the incident while calling for an end to the high-handedness by the state-backed security outfits in the state.
