The Chief of Army Staff, General Waidi Shaibu, was received by Enugu Governor Peter Mbah on a courtesy visit as both parties work towards an efficient collaboration and long-term partnership.
The Enugu governor congratulated Shaibu on his recent appointment while acknowledging his knowledge of Enugu’s security situation.
” I was delighted to receive the Chief of the Army Staff, Lt. General Waidi Shaibu, at Government House, Enugu, today”. Mbah said.
” I am also deeply encouraged by his public acknowledgment that security in Enugu State has improved tremendously. This progress did not happen by chance. It is the result of deliberate investments, difficult reforms, and, most importantly, the dedicated support and sacrifices of the men and officers of the Nigerian Army and our sister security agencies.” Mbah added
Mbah credited the improvement in Security in Enugu to the Nigerian Army, saying the feat would not have been achieved without the input of the Army. He stressed that the Enugu government will sustain and deepen the collaboration with the military as it works to protect the people, reassure investors, and keep communities peaceful.
The Enugu governor extended his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his sustained policies, commitment, and investment in National security. He stated that the Enugu government is aligned with the vision of the president and ready to work with the president to advance National security.

- Enugu, under the administration of Mbah, faced challenges posed by marauding herdsmen in rural parts of the state. Reports of killings and kidnappings in rural parts of the state were made in the early days of the adminstration.
- The Mbah administration initiated the forest guards initiative, a security outfit tasked to guard Enugu rural areas and protect farmers from violent and armed herdsmen. The outfit was mobilised with buses and uniforms as well as preliminary training.
