Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, is set to repatriate, empower, and Upskill Ebonyi indigenes in menial jobs across Nigeria.
Speaking at a church service in the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki, Nwifuru stated that Ebonyi indigenes were being exploited, and his administration has decided to address the situation.
We will bring back our people who are doing menial jobs in other cities and empower them since they are not even being appreciated by the people they are working for,” Nwifuru said. “After all, they are being exploited without commensurate remuneration.”
He also revealed that the state government was constructing warehouses and skill acquisition centres to engage and reintegrate planned returnees to the state.
Nwifuru expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of some of his cabinet members, explaining that his recent cabinet reshuffle was aimed at addressing the issue. He stated that some of the appointees were not meeting the standard needed to deliver the promise in his “People Charter of Needs”
“We are worried that the vision statement contained in our charter has not been satisfactorily realized. We are still assessing the performance of appointees and will not hesitate to take further action if necessary,” he warned.
The Governor touched on the allegations of fund diversion levelled against the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). The Ebonyi State SSG has been accused of diverting funds, according to a publication already before the Federal High Court in Uyo.
Nwifuru stressed the need for due process, saying no actions would be taken until the accused is found guilty of the charges.

“As a lawyer, I understand the importance of due process and the need to avoid setting the wrong precedents,” Nwifuru Said.
Finally, Governor Nwifuru seized the opportunity to call on Ebonyi Leaders in the diaspora, urging them to come and invest in the state. He urged them to shun social media narratives and take advantage of the enabling environment his administration was creating back home.
The People’s Charter of Needs was launched by the Nwifuru administration to address citizens’ needs. The charter focuses on security, healthcare, water, and infrastructure amid other sectors.
The Charter gave birth to various initiatives, including recruiting 195 health workers, reviving water schemes, and boosting agriculture. The Ebonyi state governor recently reshuffled his cabinet to align with the demands of the charter.
