Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has announced the completion of a new senior staff quarters at the Prof. Fidelis Ogah Complex of the State University of ICT.
He shared the update on his X page, saying the project demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving the welfare, dignity, and comfort of university staff.
He described the development as a fulfillment of a promise and added that it reflects ongoing efforts to improve working and living conditions in the state’s education sector.
The governor said Ebonyi State is moving forward with projects aimed at supporting workers and strengthening institutions. The staff quarters add to the ongoing educational reforms by the Nwifuru administration. This is as it seeks to invest more in Ndi Ebonyi.
The Nwifuru administration has ramped up its efforts to develop the state’s Human Development Index by investing in education. The administration launched the FON scholars initiative. The initiative sponsored Ebonyi Students to study in the UK with a PHD program in Scotland.
The efforts follow attempts to invest in people, after the last administration focused heavily on infrastructure. The Umahi administration is credited with building flyovers, bridges, and even an airport that many say is not needed.
However, the people of Ebonyi state still grapple with unemployment and poverty. This has forced many to become economic migrants in other states. The educational reforms by the Nwifuru administration are a bet on the future. It is building a class of innovators who will reinvest in the state’s growth after being trained.
Ebonyi Governor Nwifuru, a trained lawyer, has also shown interest in sports. Last year, he participated in the Enviable football Tournament.
