Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has received appreciation from FON scholars currently at the University of Lincoln, United Kingdom, for their Master’s Degrees, courtesy of the Ebonyi State Government.
The FON scholars are beneficiaries of the Ebonyi State scholarship scheme under the Nwifuru administration. This aligns with the current state leadership goal of boosting the state’s Human Development Index (HDI).
” I am delighted to receive the appreciation of our FON Scholars at the University of Lincoln, United Kingdom, who are currently pursuing their Master’s degrees under the scholarship programme of the Ebonyi State Government,” Nwifuru said
” Your success and progress remain a source of pride and inspiration to us. As a government, we are committed to investing in education and human capital development because we believe that the greatest asset of any society is its people.”
” To my dear children and ambassadors of Ebonyi State, I encourage you to remain focused, disciplined, and dedicated to your studies. Make the most of this rare opportunity, uphold the values of excellence and integrity, and strive to distinguish yourselves in your academic pursuits and personal conduct.” He added.
The barrister-turned-governor reminded the students that they are part of a major social experiment. The end goal is to improve Ebonyi’s development indices through foreign education.
” Remember that you carry the hopes and aspirations of our people. We look forward to your return as highly skilled professionals. That will contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of our dear state.” Nwifuru said to the students.
The governor wished the students continued success and God’s guidance in their academic pursuits. Another batch of state-supported scholars are currently in Scotland for their PhD program.
The Strategic FON Scholars Project
The creation of a foreign-schooled talent base, expected to return to Ebonyi State after their studies, is strategic. They are expected to contribute to the state’s growth after their studies.
The previous administration of Engr David Umahi focused heavily on infrastructure. The Nwifuru administration is complementing that by focusing on the people.
