The legal counsel to the leader of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), Aloy Ejimakor, has been arrested alongside Kanu’s brother and other leaders of the Free Nnamdi Kanu protest currently ongoing in Abuja.

Ejimakor revealed the development via his X handle, informing the general public of his arrest alongside other partners in the active protest.

” We’ve just been arrested. Myself, Prince Emanuel, and others. We are at FCT COMMAND CID. Myself, Fine Boy, and others. No. 1 Zaria Street, Gariki 2, Abuja.” Ejimakor shared on X.

Ejimakor, who, before his arrest, was stationed at the front of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja alongside his partners, stated that the protest must go on. He revealed that they were stationed at the place waiting for Yele Sowore, the leader of the protest, to join them.

Earlier in the day, Ejimakor reported the ongoing situation at his vantage point, stating that his eyes and throat hurt following the use of tear gas by the Nigerian police.

In an earlier request to the president, Ejimakor called on President Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu. He explained that once the president halts the prosecution, the ongoing trial will end, putting to bed the entire matter.

He added that if that is not obtainable, the Nigerian court can always step in and halt what he described as the tide of injustice.

Aloy Ejimakor, who was present in Nnamdi Kanu’s last court appearance, revealed that the IPOB leader’s legal team was ambushed with a medical report claiming Nnamdi Kanu was fit and ready to stand trials.

The court also urged Kanu’s legal team to open its defence in 14 days, as their client, Nnamdi Kanu, has been declared fit to stand trial by a medical report in their possession.

The streets of Abuja are currently tense with traffic gridlock at various choke points in the city. The Free Nnamdi Kanu Protest is currently ongoing in Kugbo, Nyanya, Dutse, and the Central Business District.

The leader of the protest, Yele Sowore, stated that he plans to put 1 million people on the streets of Abuja demanding the release of the IPOB leader.
