The Gubernatorial Candidate of the Labour Party, George Moghalu, highlighted the perennial history of voter Apathy in Anambra State, promising to fix the menace with good governance

Speaking on an X Live Space organized by the National Obidient’s chapter Yesterday, Moghalu lamented the history of voter apathy in Anambra state, stating that a huge majority of voters in the state are simply not interested in voting anymore.

” Moments ago, Various Numbers were mentioned with regard to the polling unit and the Number of registered voters. As at the last count, without including the recent CVR that was done. Anambra state has over 2.8 million registered voters, not 2.6 million.” Moghalu stated

“Then, with the recent CVR done by INEC, an additional 195,000 people registered. So, invariably speaking, we are approaching very closely, if we haven’t gotten there, the 3 million mark.” He said

” In the last election, the governor was elected with 112,000 votes. So that goes to show the level of Apathy in Anambra State. The Work lies in getting out our people to vote.”

“Due to the experiences our people have had in the past, they see government as a fraud; they see government officials as dishonest, and that is why I set a target for myself to change the narrative”. He said

“The Only way one can do that is to bring good governance to the people and let them participate in their governance,” Moghalu Concluded

Speaking on his governorship ambition, Moghalu explained that the reason he wants to be elected governor is to change the narrative and do things properly. He added that he wants to surpass the achievements of Peter Obi, the Labour Party icon, when he was governor of Anambra state.

On Security, Moghalu lamented the deplorable state of Insecurity in Anambra state, reiterating the importance of security in the growth of the economy of a state. He stated that travelling within the state is insecure, and even the state capital, Awka, is bedeviled with rampant cult activities.

” I am going to resolve the issue of Insecurity within the first three to six months as governor if it pleases God. ” Moghalu stated, explaining his security manifesto.

He stated that all the local vigilantes in Anambra state would be documented and trained properly to prevent the mishap of extrajudicial killings, as witnessed in Onitsha days ago.

Moghalu also floated a novel policy that seeks to place security operatives in Anambra state on a life insurance policy, ensuring their financial future and lifting the burden from the Nigerian Government.
