Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, congratulated Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke on the occasion of his silver jubilee of priestly ordination.
The Silver Jubilee event took place on Sunday at Godfrey Okoye University, where the current executive Governor of Enugu State happened to serve on its governing council. Mbah extoled Fr Anieke as a priest, academic, and administrator par excellence.
The Governor stated that the celebrant priest who epitomises a strong moral compass and values has shown an uncommon commitment to humanity. He added that the celebration honours the true essence of service and selflessness.
Mbah went on a trip down memory lane on his time as a member of the university’s governing council and the role the celebrant priest played in his newfound role as the executive Governor of Enugu state.
The Governor recalled laying out the blueprint of his administration in 2022, including the education sector reforms, the Smart Green School initiative, and the catch phrase Tomorrow is here.
According to the Governor, these initiatives were facilitated at the Godfrey Okoye community, so his return to the community for the event brings a lot of good memories.

Mbah also hailed Fr Anieke for demonstrating how to fight poverty through education. This strategy sits and aligns with his manifesto for Ndi Enugu as Governor of the state.
“Fr. Anieke has also demonstrated how education can be used to eradicate poverty – a vision that aligns perfectly with our administration’s policy of ending poverty through education and wealth creation.” Mbah added
The Enugu Governor extended his greetings to Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, the catholic archbishop of Abuja, for reflecting and commending Enugu in its renewed drive to strengthen the security architecture of the state.
Governor Mbah has made giant strides in the Education sector, launching a giant Educational Infrastructure project known as the Smart Green Schools Initiative. The initiative is a massive N260 billion, 100-year project aimed at building 260 schools across all wards by September 2025.
The Smart schools integrate AI, robotics, and experiential learning into their core infrastructure. Each Smart school features 25 smart classrooms, solar power, farms for daily meals, and teacher housing.
The ambitious project is backed by UNICEF, UNESCO, and the World Bank and received a 33% budget allocation in 2025.
Governor Mbah also extended his ICT-driven revolution into agriculture, launching a similar smart farm initiative in the arable parts of the state.
