The Anglican Communion’s Bet on Nation Building
The Joshua Generation International Youth Conference (JGIYC) is a premier annual Christian gathering organised by the Church of Nigeria, the Anglican Communion.
The initiative was birthed in 2021 by the Primate, Most Rev. Henry C. Ndukuba. The conference is designed to raise a Joshua generation. This is a cohort of godly, purpose-driven young leaders. They are equipped to transform Nigeria and the African continent through integrity and faith.
Although the annual event is always held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, the 2026 edition was moved to Enugu.
This year’s edition is taking place from April 6 to April 11. The venue is the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium and the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. The event features intense worship and plenaries on socio-economic empowerment. It also features career-building workshops, drawing tens of thousands of participants from around the world.
Enugu is fast becoming a safe haven for the young demographic in the eastern region. This is driven by the ripple effects of its tertiary institutions and a steady influx of young people.
The state is also fast becoming a hub for national events. In recent years, it has hosted events such as the Nigerian Bar Association’s Annual General Conference. Nafest 2025, ETH Enugu, and Enugu Tech Fest 2026.
