Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University (KOMU) will hold its 9th public lecture themed Emerging Trends in Strategic Resource Mobilization in the Global Higher Education Landscape, tomorrow, 28th January 2026.

KOMU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ikechukwu N.S. Dozie invited Emeritus Prof Ndubuisi Okolo, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Professor of Bioprocess Physiology, as the guestspeaker of the lecture.

The venue of the public lecture is the KOMU premises in Orlu, imo state, and the invitation is open to the general public. Prof Okolo will do justice to the theme of the event, drawing from his expertise in the field.

Universities use public lectures as a vital bridge between academia and the general public. The primary goal is to take specialized research and academic findings and make them accessible to everyone.

Public lectures translate complex theories into language that the community, policymakers, and industry leaders can understand and apply.

Public lectures are a key part of a university’s social responsibility. By opening their doors to the local community, universities advertise the real-world impact of their work, promote public trust, and position the institution as a hub for intellectual and cultural life.

Public lectures also serve as an avenue for thought leadership and open ideation. Universities often invite high-profile guest speakers like politicians, CEOs, or activists to give public lectures. These events often bring together stakeholders who wouldn’t usually meet, fostering partnerships between the university and the private/public sectors.

The guest speaker, Emeritus Prof Ndubuisi Okolo, is credited as one of the most impactful Vice Chancellors at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. His tenure lasted from 2009 to 2014.
