Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has said he does not consider religious background when selecting people for government appointments.
He made the statement during an Anambra Executive Council retreat held in Anambra State, where he spoke about how he chooses his team based on competence and ability to deliver results.
Soludo explained that he has never asked anyone about their place of worship before working with them and does not plan to do so in the future. He noted that what matters to him is performance and value, not religious affiliation.
The governor said many of his close aides and appointees come from different Christian denominations, including Pentecostal and Anglican backgrounds.
He pointed out that his team includes long-serving staff such as his ADC, who has worked with him for over two decades, as well as his Chief Security Officer and other top officials drawn from different parts of the country.
He added that his administration took the time to carefully select members of his cabinet, including professionals with strong private-sector experience and international exposure.
Among them, he mentioned that his Secretary to the State Government is a young woman, described as one of the youngest to hold such a position in the country.
Soludo stressed that governance is about delivering services such as roads, housing, security, and infrastructure, not about religious identity.
He said there is no religious version of technical work, such as road construction or mathematics, insisting that what citizens care about is effective service delivery.
He also stated that his government remains focused on major development projects, including road expansion, industrial city plans, and other infrastructure initiatives to improve the state’s economy and public services.
