The Federal Road Safety Nigeria, Anambra State Command, paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA) in Awka, mulling s strategic partnership between the two agencies.

The meeting took place at ANSAA Headquarters in Awka, marking a significant step toward strengthening inter-agency collaboration in road safety and public enlightenment.

The FRSC team, led by Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, Sector Commander, in the company of key officials, including Ezugwu A. Gloria (DCC, Motor Vehicle Administration), Iloduba C. Kingsley (SRC, Signage), Nwoke Sixtus (Protocol Officer), and Blessing Ochoche (Orderly).

During the visit, both agencies held strategic sessions to forge a partnership. Deliverables include enhancing traffic management, improving road signage standards, and promoting safer road usage across Anambra State.

Welcoming the delegation, the MD/CEO of ANSAA, Odili Tony Ujubuonu, expressed deep appreciation for the visit. The ANSAA CEO reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to collaboration with a focus on public safety. He mulled over a shared vision between FRSC and ANSAA for the benefit of Ndi Anambra.

    Publicity Meets Enforcement

The FRSC is Nigeria’s foremost road safety outfit tasked with enforcing road safety rules. ANSAA, on the other hand, oversees the outdoor advertising industry in Anambra State. Their purview includes billboards, rallies, medium- and small-scale signage, and vehicle and tricycle branding.

ANSAA receives N50 million from each gubernatorial candidate for outdoor campaigns every election season in Anambra state. Besides political patronage, the agency also partners with large and medium-sized businesses in Anambra for outdoor campaigns and billboard advertising.

The agency is government-owned. However, it operates under a partnership model, funding its operations through its cut of ad sales and partnerships.

The commercial city of Onitsha and the capital city of Awka are the agency’s two major cash cows. This is due to the high concentration of businesses in these areas.
