The member representing Enugu North/South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chimaobi Atu, moved to uplift Science education in his constituency by donating three mobile science laboratories to secondary schools in the state.

The beneficiary schools are the Comprehensive Secondary School, Akwuke; Community Secondary School, Ugwuaji; and Day Secondary School, Independence Layout, Enugu. The honourable stated that his decision to make the provision was informed by his touring of secondary schools in his constituency and noticing the deplorable state most of them are in.

“We discovered that most of the science laboratories were either in terrible condition or non-existent,” Atu said

“We want to make impacts that generations will remember. Our children deserve the best because they are among the most intelligent creations of God. Tomorrow belongs to the next generation of society, who deserve all the knowledge to fortify them for the global competition ahead”, he added during the unveiling of the laboratories.

The principals of the beneficiary schools expressed their profound gratitude for the laboratories, noting that the development will encourage more students to study science subjects.

“I have not seen this before, and it’s commendable. This will attract more students to go into science subjects.”Said Mrs. Stella Ogbonnia, the principal of Comprehensive Secondary School. Mrs. Nneoma Okoro, a science teacher at Community Secondary School, Ugwuaji, said the initiative would enable students to conduct experiments at free will.

“This is a game-changer for our students. The mobile smart laboratory will enable our students to conduct experiments and learn science in a more engaging and interactive way. We are excited to see the impact it will have on our students’ performance, she said

The students showed their appreciation for the new facilities, stating their excitement in using them to learn. The Traditional Ruler of Akwuke Uwani Community, Igwe C.A. Ekwomchi, assured Rep Chimaobi Atu that the newly procured mobile laboratories are in safe hands and would be maximised fully by the beneficiary schools.
