Enugu Air has added Douala, Cameroon, to its network, and the route is its first outside Nigeria.
The airline operated its inaugural flight from Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu to Douala on September 23. The service runs twice weekly, on Mondays and Wednesdays, and passengers from Lagos and Abuja can connect to Douala through Enugu.
Flights leave Enugu at 12:45 p.m. and reach Douala at 1:45 p.m., while return flights depart at 2:30 p.m. and land at 3:30 p.m.
Douala is Cameroon’s largest city and one of Central Africa’s most important commercial centres, and trade and travel between the two countries have traditionally relied on indirect flights or long overland journeys.
Governor Peter Mbah said the link was about more than air travel, as it would connect opportunities and markets and strengthen Enugu’s position as a gateway to the world.
Enugu Air Powering Nigerian Aviation
Enugu Air began commercial operations on July 7, 2025, from Akanu Ibiam International Airport. Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo inaugurated the airline that day and said it would soon fly to other African countries.
The state-backed carrier is part of a wider effort to make Enugu an aviation gateway for the Southeast, reducing reliance on Lagos and Abuja for regional international journeys.
The airline now serves Enugu, Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, Owerri, Asaba, Warri, Benin and Douala. Under the slogan “Fly Enugu Air. Fly Different,” bookings can be made at enuguairlines.ng.
