The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) generated N13.92 billion in revenue in April 2026, per a Cable Index report.
The disco focused on the Southeast region (Enugu, Abia, Anambra, Imo, and Ebonyi) billed its customers in the region N19.70 billion but collected only N13.92 billion in actual revenue at the end of the month.
This represents a 70.7% collection efficiency rate by the EEDC for the month, an impressive development given the challenge usually faced by most agencies in Nigeria that get their revenue from the masses.
The high collection rate is also an effect of the metered system, which allows energy consumers to accurately measure their consumption, leading to high compliance.
The Cable Index report revealed that the total billing for the 11 discos in Nigeria stood at N252.43bn, with total revenue collected at N203.61bn. The National collection efficiency rate stands at an impressive 80.66%.
ISERC Pays Courtesy Visit to NERC in Abuja
The Imo State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ISERC) paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) in Abuja on Tuesday, June 30.
The ISERC delegation, led by its chairman, Mr Bede Opara, paid the visit as part of efforts to strengthen inter-regulatory collaboration and advance efficiency and development of the Nigerian electricity market.
The delegates from Imo State were received by the Chairman of NERC, Dr Musiliu Oseni, and the commission’s management. Discussions ranged from the implementation of the Electricity Act 2023 to more autonomy for state regulatory commissions to control their respective energy markets.
