Top members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday gathered in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, for a rally held in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his re-election bid in 2027.
The event took place at the Abakaliki Township Stadium and drew several prominent political figures from within and outside the APC.
Leading the delegation was APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, accompanied by members of the party’s National Working Committee.
Among those present were Hope Uzodimma, Chukwuma Soludo, David Umahi, Enugu State Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Pius Anyim.
Speaking at the gathering, Ebonyi APC Chairman, Chief Santely Okoro-Emegha, said the state remained loyal to the ruling party and explained that the rally was organised to show support for President Tinubu.
He expressed confidence that the president would receive strong backing from voters across the state in the next general election.
Minister of Works David Umahi said support for the Tinubu administration was growing across the South-East.
He pointed to various federal projects underway in the region. He also said they reflected the government’s commitment to development and inclusion.
Umahi also referred to ongoing infrastructure projects in Ebonyi State. This includes a major federal road project valued at about N445 billion.
Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who belongs to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), attended the rally. He came to support Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru.
He said his presence was based on his belief in development-driven leadership and cooperation among leaders regardless of political affiliation.
Soludo also spoke about his personal connection to Ebonyi. He recalled spending part of his early years in the state. This was when his father worked at the Nigercem Cement Company in Nkalagu.
Ebonyi State became an APC state under the administration of Francis Nwifuru after many years of PDP leadership. The state was the second state in the Southeast to become an APC state within 5 years.
