RACE Hopes to Advance Racial Relations Through Research
The Centre for the Advancement of Race Equality (CARE) is a research centre based at the University of Northampton in the United Kingdom. It draws together expertise from across the University and believes that equality, diversity and inclusion are a critical aspect of a healthy research culture.
The centre’s vision is twofold: it serves as an important hub for developing and extending critically aware cultures. It is also bringing together research and teaching excellence related to racial equality.
CARE hopes to foster a supportive and creative environment for research into racial disparities. It is engaging with debates on decolonisation and building relationships with external organisations and activist networks.
The Centre also includes the Searchlight Archive Research Group. This research group is dedicated to the study of fascism and antifascism in Britain and internationally. It develops training packages on racism and the extreme right for councils, police forces, and other bodies.
CARE is co-led by Dr Patrice Seuwou and Dr Emel Thomas and regularly convenes conferences. It brings together leading voices in race studies, EDI, and related fields.
