Governor Alex Otti has assured residents of Abia State that his administration will soon begin major projects to complete the recovery of Aba, including the reconstruction of Uratta Road and Old Express Road.
The governor gave the assurance during a special Mass held at Christ the King Catholic Church (CKC), Aba, where the Catholic Diocese of Aba honoured him for his leadership and contributions to the state’s development.
Speaking at the event, Otti thanked the church for the recognition and promised that his government would continue working for the benefit of the people.
He said his administration had already tackled issues relating to environmental cleanliness, roads, and water supply, adding that attention would now shift more towards healthcare, education, technology, and industrialisation.
The governor also disclosed that funds for the reconstruction of Uratta Road and Old Express Road had already been secured, assuring residents that the projects would be flagged off soon.
According to him, his administration does not begin projects until the required funds are available.
Otti further pledged support for the ongoing Catholic Men Organisation (CMO) Secretariat project, as well as for projects undertaken by the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) and the Catholic Youth Organisation (CYO).
His administration has been earmarked with key capital projects, mostly road infrastructure. Abia State has one of the worst road infrastructures in the eastern region, following years of neglect.
The Otti administration has addressed these issues extensively, earning some political capital and getting accolades across the nation. Other areas of impact of his administration include foreign partnerships, electricity generation and distribution, and social initiatives such as the Abia Leadership Academy and the Abia Techrise Cohort series.
