The Chief Executive Officer of the Southeast Development Commission (SEDC), Mark Okoye, paid a courtesy visit to Defence Contractors Terra Industries at their industrial park in Idu, Abuja.
The Visit is part of the SEDC’s CEO tour of startups owned by eastern Nigerian personalities, a fallout of his mission to grow the Southeast economy to $1 trillion by 2036.
” Encouraging to see the level of ambition and capability being developed locally in advanced technology and manufacturing, particularly by founders from the South East building for both domestic and global markets.” Okoye shared on LinkedIn.
” Conversations focused on how innovation, local production, and applied technology can support industrial growth, strengthen critical infrastructure, and create opportunities for skilled jobs.’ He added.
The Terra Industries facility in Idu has become something of a Mecca for all tech and defence enthusiasts. They welcomed 61 senior officers from the Nigerian Army War College (AWCN) to the industrial facility.
The indigenous Defence contractors also signed an agreement with the Nigerian Defence Industries Corporation (DICON). The agreement is to promote local production and reduce African countries’ reliance on foreign entities for their military hardware.
African Tech Post Payments
Nathan Nwachukwu, CEO of Terra Industries, believes Africans can do more with tech. He believes Africans should leverage tech to solve more pressing issues on the continent. Nwachukwu thinks Issues like agriculture and Defence should be a priority, not just payments.
The Abuja-based startup has raised a total of $33.8 million in funding. The company achieved this total through two rapid-fire seed rounds within the first two months of 2026.
The defence company emerged from stealth with an $11.75 million raise led by 8VC, founded by Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale. A month later, they secured an additional $22 million extension led by Lux Capital.
Nwachukwu, a college dropout, is leading Terra Industries’s drive alongside his co-founder and Chief Engineer, Maxwell Maduka. The duo has been cited by major publications as personalities driving the next generation of tech startups in Africa.
