The Enugu and Anambra chapters of the Labour Party publicly endorsed the Opposition coalition led by the African Democratic Congress, calling it strategic and a catalyst to deepening democracy in Nigeria.
The Labour Party in Anambra, in a memo released to journalists in Awka, announced the endorsement, noting that the coalition is being arranged at a national level with the active participation of Mr Peter Obi. The memo was announced by the State Caretaker Committee and signed by the State Chairman, Peter Okoye.
“This strategic collaboration is in line with the broader goals and aspirations of the Labour Party to deepen democracy, promote good governance, and deliver people-oriented leadership,” the statement read.
“We therefore urge all members, supporters, and stakeholders of the Labour Party in Anambra State to key into this important development.it added
The Party members stated that the participation of Mr Peter Obi in the coalition shows the seriousness and the prospects of the new alliance. They urged all party members and stakeholders to come out in mass and support the coalition.

“Together, we will continue to build a formidable force that reflects the will and interests of the Nigerian people, especially the hardworking and enterprising citizens of Anambra State,” the memo stated.
Similarly, the Enugu State chapter of the Labour Party, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Kingsley Ugwu, on Thursday, stated that it is endorsing the ADC coalition going forward.

“This is an official message from the Leadership of the Labour Party, Enugu State. Enugu, We are pleased to announce that Labour Party Enugu State has officially embraced the coalition to contribute to the movement for achieving a better Nigeria, working together with our principal, Peter Obi.
While we remain committed members of the Labour Party, we recognise the importance of collaboration and unity in pursuit of our shared goals. As part of this effort, we are excited to announce that we can now begin advertising the ADC agenda across all 260 wards in Enugu State, The statement said.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC), founded in 2005, became a key opposition coalition platform for Nigeria’s 2027 elections. The party was adopted by leaders like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Nasir El-Rufai in July 2025. ADC aims to challenge the APC. The party has made several appointments, including Senator David Mark, who was appointed interim National Chairman, with Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary.
