This InfoEast article explores the DSTV Yanga Channels List in 2026 and explains why this subscription plan is ideal for budget-conscious cable TV subscribers. The DSTV Yanga plan is one step below the DSTV Confam plan, which we discussed in the last article. Multichoice, the parent company of DSTV, decided to introduce a series of budget-friendly subscription plans in Nigeria to counter the dwindling subscriber base.

Multichoice announced that the company lost about 1.2 million linear subscribers in 2025. This follows an even steeper 2.8 million loss in 2024.

A series of factors is responsible for DSTV’s subscriber base decline in Nigeria. The first and most significant is a drop in Nigerians’ purchasing power and the growing number of Nigerians falling below the poverty line.

A PWC report pegged the percentage of Nigerians living in abject poverty at 62%. This is coupled with the fact that the minimum wage in the country is N70,000, making DSTV or Cable news a luxury for this category of people.

Multichoice figured it could increase its subscriber base by rolling out low-cost subscription plans to attract low-budget customers. The DSTV “Confam” and “Yanga” subscription plans were put in place for these reasons, and the plan has so far appeared to work.

Multichoice also owns the GOTV franchise, which is by far the cheapest cable TV alternative and has captured the low-income market for cable TV. DSTV Yanga channel list in 2026 is as follows
