Anambra governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, hosted the state’s lawmakers in a multi-party dialogue to discuss ideas and implementation strategies for the new year.
Present at the meeting were the executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Senator representing Anambra Central, Victor Umeh, Senator representing Anambra North, Tony Nwoye, and Senator representing Anambra South, Emmanuel Nwachukwu.
Members of the Anambra State House of Assembly were also present at the multi-party meeting hosted by the state governor. The meeting was held to introduce a renewed sense of responsibility and purpose as the state enters a new year.
Following his landslide victory in the November gubernatorial polls, Prof Soludo is looking at four more years of active governance and a chance to build a political legacy that will serve as a launching pad for future political ambitions.
Political speculators argue that the Anambra governor has his eyes on the Vice presidential slot come 2031. The North is postulated to pair up with the East for the President and Vice President slots in 2031.
The permutations, if correct, mean a Southeast politician would be in the pole position to become president after the North is done in 2039. The calculations have attracted a host of heavyweight southeastern politicians lining up for the VP slot in 2031.
Prospective candidates include Senator Hope Uzodimma, Engr David Nweze, Barrister Peter Mbah, and Prof Charles Soludo. Senator Hope Uzodimma leads the pack as an influential APC chieftain and the sitting governor of Imo state.
Other candidates still hold their cards close to their chests in what promises to be an exciting tussle for power in 2031. Peter Obi’s defection to the African Democratic Congress, however, poses a steep threat to this permutation pending his agreement with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on the ADC ticket.
