Foremost Anambra Businessman and Transporter, Chief Godwin Ubaka Okeke aka GUO, has hailed the igbo youths for showing restraint after the life sentencing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu last month.
Speaking to Journalists in his GRA residence in Onitsha, the Chairman of GUO Group of Companies expressed satisfaction with how Igbo youths handled the matter and avoided playing into the hands of the Nigerian state by taking any rash decisions following the life imprisonment meted out on the IPOB leader by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
” I salute Igbo youths for their patience. While they remain calm, the relevant authorities should begin to consider the quickest political solution to this matter,” he said.
He also appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider appeals by prominent igbo sociocultural groups and bodies calling for his release.
Okeke expressed a willingness to contribute to a meaningful resolution of the matter, stating that transporters are ready to help with logistics if needed.
Speaking on the state of safety on Nigerian roads, the Anambra transporter explained that having multiple police and army checkpoints on the road demanding small tips is a lot more preferable to the activities of kidnappers and bandits who kill, abduct, and demand heavy ransom.
He pointed out that the security personnel on the highway work under harsh conditions and often risk their lives to protect commuters and ensure a safe highway. He, however, suggested diplomacy and a more civil approach by security personnel on the highway to gain the trust of the people.
GUO Motors, founded by Chief Godwin Okeke, is one of the foremost transport companies in Nigeria, commuting passengers mainly from eastern Nigeria to various parts of the country by road.
